Oscar blah

What does it say about me that I haven't seen any of the films nominated for Best Picture, but have seen two of the three nominated for Best Animated Picture? Never mind, don't answer that.

I'm suing

You may have seen that the suit against McDonalds is back in court. I've decided to sue Denver Mattress Company for making my mattress too comfortable and DIRECTV for beaming me so many great channels. They're making me lazy and it's not my fault.

Some links

Since I have nothing exciting to add today, I thought I'd pass on some of my favorite links. Enjoy.

Cockeyed.com - Rob is well known for his "How Much is Inside" episodes, but the rest of the site is just as genius.

FatWallet.com - If you watch the "Hot Deals" forum, you can wind up picking up a bunch of stuff for cheap. Beware, as you may wind up buying crap that you don't need just because it's a great deal. The "Free Stuff" forum sometimes has free magazine subscriptions, but is mostly free samples and the like.

Defective Yeti - An entertaining blog by a guy in Washington. Currently, he's reading the same book as I am, so he must be pretty cool.

Fark.com - A collection of all of the news (real, funny, gross, all of it) updated in real time. Some links may be a bit risque and "NSFW" means "Not safe for work" (nudity).

That's enough for now. I don't want to give away all of my secrets at once. If you have any additional ones that you think I'd enjoy, feel free to add a comment.

Hawaii Photos

Thanks to the holiday, I was able to get all of these loaded up today. I've put them in a couple of different galleries:

Maui: This first group is general pictures from our visit to Maui. Chip and Perrin were generous enough to share both their home and the secret of half-price sushi night with us. We are forever in their debt.

Mercedes Championship: On Jan 5th, we went to the Mercedes Championship Golf Tournament Pro-Am day. We saw Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia (Deanna's favorite), Roger Clemens, and Samuel L. Jackson. We followed Sergio to the second hole green and after holing out, he tossed the ball to Perrin. She was nice enough to give it to Deanna. I'm not sure what his ball marker represents, but it's kind of cool.

Underwater: We hiked out across the lava flows to reach an awesome snorkeling spot. Mark used his camera to take these underwater shots.

The Road to Hana: On the 7th, we drive the famous road to Hana. It was a beautiful, winding road including a ridiculous number of one lane bridges. We even took the less traveled back way on the return trip.

Kauai: Following our trip to Maui, we spent a week with the family over on Kauai. Despite some high winds and a few showers, we had a great time. Brenna really enjoyed the sand and looked super cute in her wetsuit.

Here are the pictures from Christmas at the old Andrews ranch.

Maui...Maui...Maui...Hawaiian Superman

Deanna and I arrived in Maui on Monday evening and have been suffering through 80 degree days since. In fact, the five day forecast was on the news the other day and it said 78 as the high for every day. I'm not even sure that they have forecasting equipment. A couple of highlights so far:
  • Vijay Singh was on our plane from San Francisco. He is now leading after the first day of the Mercedes Championship, so I'm sure there's a connection.
  • We spent a few hours at the pro-am day for the golf tournament. Perrin used her looks to get a golf ball from Sergio Garcia (although she denies that it had anything to do with her looks). We also saw Tiger, Vijay (old news), Ernie Els, Stewart Cink (better known as Kevin Colvett's friend), Roger Clemens (also known as traitor), and Samuel L Jackson.
  • Earlier today, we hiked over a bunch of raw lava rock to reach a snorkeling spot. Fish were everywhere and we saw a great variety. Hopefully, I an get some pictures posted later.
For the most part, we've been sitting on the beach enjoying the sun. Tonight is half-price sushi night at the local joint, so we're looking forward to that. Tomorrow, we're driving over to Hana on "the other side" to see what's to be seen over there. Then we head over to Kuaui on Saturday. I have to say that so far, this vacation has been much less cramped then the journey to Augusta. Good Times.
